Gayle Ellen Maly, 78, passed away Saturday, June 9, 2018. Gayle died like she lived, surrounded by people who love her. Born in Youngstown, to Tom and Vesta Moyer, Gayle lived in many places in Ohio (and three months in Costa Rica) with her beloved husband and friend, The Reverend David Maly.
She dedicated 53 years to her career in nursing, working in diverse environments ranging from hospital nursing to research and even a stint in a correctional facility for youth.
Gayle simultaneously served alongside her husband's ministry in nine United Methodist Churches, where she played exceptional piano and created a place of welcome in each parsonage she inhabited.
She continued her Ministry up until her death in the Stephen Ministry Program, where she was a leader, trainer and caregiver. She was instrumental in starting an ecumenical Stephen Ministry encompassing several Christian churches in the Medina area.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, David; her children, Lori (Tim) Silva, Christine (Steve) Little, Michael Maly; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her two brothers, Bob and Jim Moyer and also by a host of others whose lives she touched.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held 1 P.M., Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Granger United Methodist Church, 1235 Granger Rd., Medina, OH 44256.
In lieu of other remembrances, the family suggests donations to the church of your choice or to Hospice of Cleveland Clinic.
