RITTMAN — Three puppies died Wednesday afternoon in a barn fire at 750 Rufener St., fire Capt. Sam McComas said Thursday.
Three firefighters were treated and released from a local hospital for minor injuries, he said. McComas said the 75-by-100-foot bank barn caught fire around 4:30 p.m. and was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.
“We were at the scene until approximately (9 p.m.) until we got all cleaned up there” he said.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Wayne County Fire Investigation Unit, and a damage estimate was not immediately available Thursday.
Besides Rittman, fire crews responded from Sterling, Seville-Guilford, Chippewa, Canaan Township, Orrville and Wadsworth.
