MONTVILLE TWP. — The Goddard School Pink Walk is a celebration of breast cancer survivors.

About 80 children who attend the preschool, ages 6 weeks to 6 years, paraded around the parking lot at Goddard, 5138 Normandy Park.

Students made homemade pink-ribbon cards for survivors and presented them to Shellie Graf, owner of Elegant Essentials, the school’s next-door neighbor.

“Our survivors love it,” Graf said. “It’s heartwarming.”

Children were decked out in pink clothing, hats, ties and even tutus.

After giving Graf their cards, the children were given a gift — a stuffed pink monkey.

The cards are given to Graf’s customers during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Elegant Essentials sells items dealing with breast cancer, such as bras, swimsuits and prosthetics.

Ivonne Scranton, owner of The Goddard School in Montville Township, said this is the fourth year for the card program.

Scranton said she has owned the school for 2ᄑ years and The Goddard School location has been open for 10 years.

“It teaches the kids to be supportive of other people,” she said.
