A Creston man was killed in a crash Tuesday at the intersection of U.S. Route 224 and Westfield Road.
According to a release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash happened at approximately 4:22 p.m. Michael Kachurchak, 67, was stopped at the intersection of Westfield and Route 224. After stopping, Kachurchak continued through the intersection heading south on Westfield when his 2002 Nissan Pathfinder was struck by a 2008 Dodge Sprinter van driven by Kevin Cook, 58, of Stow. Cook was traveling west on Route 224.
The impact caused both cars to stop in the westbound lanes of Route 224.
Kachurchak died at the scene from his injuries. Cook suffered what were termed incapacitating injuries and was transported to Lodi Community Hospital. The westbound lanes of Route 224 were shut down for about three hours.
The crash remains under investigation. Seatbelts were reportedly used by both drivers.
