Brunswick police arrested a Maple Heights man early Thursday morning after a two-county chase ended in Middleburg Heights.

Brunswick police said they are still looking for a Cleveland man, who they believe to be the driver of a 2007 Mercury Mountaineer that was involved in the chase.

The incident started at 2:01 a.m. Thursday when police said they tried to stop the Mountaineer near Hadcock Road and Bramblewood Drive in Brunswick. However, the car sped away going north on Interstate 71.

With the assistance of Strongsville police, spike strips were used to slow down the vehicle. The driver then exited the freeway near Bagley Road in Middleburg Heights and went into the embankment area.

Both a driver and a passenger jumped out, running from police. After a short chase, Brunswick and Middleburg Heights police arrested Robert Littlejohn, 33, of Middleburg Heights.

Littlejohn, who has a history of felonious assault, domestic violence, and drug trafficking, had a warrant for burglary charges from Garfield Heights Police Department. The suspected driver is 19-year-old Monteze Thomas of Cleveland.

Police said officers found marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the abandoned SUV.
