York Township man killed in Lorain County crash

GRAFTON TWP. – A York Township man was killed in a single-vehicle crash Monday morning on state Route 83, just north of state Route 303.

Arden Wiley, 70, a retired veterinarian, was pronounced dead at the scene near 16489 Avon Belden Road.

According to the Ohio Highway Patrol, Wiley was traveling north on Route 83 at about 10:15 a.m. when his 2011 Chevrolet Silverado pickup went off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle continued approximately 1,200 feet through a plowed field and struck some trees.

Wiley, who was not wearing a seat belt, was partially ejected, troopers said.

The crash remains under investigation.

In addition to the patrol, the Lorain County Coroner’s Office, Grafton Fire Department and Lorain County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
