BRUNSWICK — Two men are dead in an apparent murder-suicide Sunday night at Oxford Heights Condominiums.
Police found Steven Bonsell, 41, of Brunswick, and Jeffrey Brennan, 42, of Elyria, dead from gunshot wounds in the 4200 block of Bennington Blvd.

Police said Bonsell’s wound appeared to be self-inflicted.
Police Lt. Robert Safran said the incident began after the female homeowner told Bonsell he needed to move out. Bonsell apparently had been staying at the residence for about eight months.
Safran said the homeowner reported Bonsell became “upset and pulled out a handgun.”
The woman, whose identity was not disclosed, fled the condominium at which time she heard “shots fired” and called police.
Police responded just before 7 p.m. and set up a perimeter around the condominium where Bonsell had barricaded himself inside, Safran said.
Police advised area residents to stay in their homes during the incident and the department also posted an advisory on its Facebook page.
“When we responded, there were attempts to make contact with anyone inside, which was unsuccessful,” Safran said, indicating that officers attempted to contact both men by phone and by knocking on the door.
“What initially was a barricade situation turned out to be that Bonsell had shot himself at some point after shooting Brennan,” the lieutenant said.
Brennan was identified as the woman’s ex-husband and it appeared that Brennan was “at the wrong place at the wrong time,” Safran said.
The relationship between the woman and Bonsell is unknown, police said.
Safran said the woman has a 12-year-old daughter who was not home at the time of the incident.
The incident remains under investigation, Safran said.
Brunswick police were assisted by the Southwest Enforcement Bureau; the FBI; Strongsville, Brunswick Hills and Hinckley police; and Brunswick and Brunswick Hills fire departments.
Bonsell had a criminal history in Medina and Cuyahoga counties with convictions on drug charges, felonious assault, petty theft, threatening domestic violence, obstructing official business, traffic offenses and failure to comply with order/signal of a police officer.
