MEDINA — For the second time in less than a week, a county man is accused of abusing his newborn son.

Brian W. Johnson, 35, of 130 Fairview Ave., Wadsworth, allegedly fractured the limbs, ribs and skull of the baby, who was born in mid-April.

He was arrested Friday and pleaded not guilty Monday to five counts of child endangering and three counts of felonious assault, second- and third-degree felonies, in Common Pleas Judge Christopher J. Collier’s court.

County Prosecutor Dean Holman said Johnson was the child’s primary caregiver and did not have a job outside the home. He recently moved to the area from Pennsylvania.

The incidents reportedly occurred between May 23 and June 6, court records show. No other children lived in the home.

Johnson was being held in the Medina County Jail Monday on $500,000 bond.

The Wadsworth Police Department investigated the case.

On Friday, a Montville Township man pleaded not guilty to similar charges.

Kenneth Alex Grad, 38, of 4721 Lexington Ridge Drive, was arrested Wednesday and accused of causing injuries to his son, which included fracturing the boy’s limbs. The incidents reportedly occurred between late May and mid-June. The baby was born in May.

Grad is out of the Medina County Jail after posting $500,000 bond Friday afternoon.
