Red Cross
The Wadsworth Red Cross, which has been operating as a certified service delivery unit under the leadership of the Summit County Chapter since 2005, aligned with the Medina County Chapter on July 1.
In an effort to strengthen service delivery, maintain community presence and demonstrate effective use of donor dollars, the leadership of the Summit County Chapter, the Wadsworth CSDU and the Medina County Chapter have agreed that this alignment makes the most sense for the Medina County community.
This alignment will not only guarantee that Red Cross services are delivered consistently throughout the county, but will give Wadsworth citizens and volunteers new opportunities to participate in Medina County activities.
It also will allow the Red Cross to speak with one, united voice when working with local service provider partners, like the county’s Emergency Management Agency and Local Emergency Planning Committee, the Medina County Health Department, the 2-1-1 Information Referral System, the United Way of Medina County and the county’s police and fire associations.
“We want to make it clear to ALL our volunteers, clients, authorized providers, students and customers that our intent is to grow programs and services in the Wadsworth area,” said Beth Kilchenman, executive director of the Medina County Chapter.
Cherie Sonnenberg, who has led the Wadsworth unit, has joined the Medina County Chapter staff as special projects manager.
