Paul C. Blevins, 90, went home to his Lord and savior on Tuesday, July 1, 2008, after a period of declining health at Apostolic Christian Home in Rittman, where he had resided since May 2005.
Mr. Blevins was born Oct. 30, 1917, in Seven Mile Ford, Va., to Charles M. and Frankie “Caroline” Brooks Blevins. He was formerly of Wooster, Medina, Lodi and Seville. Mr. Blevins was employed by the Cloverleaf and Westfield School boards of education for 30 years as a grounds, building and maintenance supervisor. He also was a school bus driver for the Cloverleaf Local School District. Mr. Blevins was a member of Lodi United Methodist Church, Lodi Ruritan Club, assistant adviser for eight years to the Westfield boys 4-H club and a charter member of the Avion Travel Trailer Club. He traveled to nearly all 50 states and many foreign countries including Canada, Germany, France, Spain, Austria, Holland, England and Mexico.
Mr. Blevins is survived by his brother, George of Chilhowie, Va.; sisters, Thelma Eblen of Salem, Va., and Josephine Crouse of Marion, Va.; sons, Herbert (Carolyn) of Medina and Bruce (Judy) of Sebring, Fla.; daughter, Joan (Dave) Zigler of Wooster; granddaughters, Amy Zigler of Wooster, Tammy (Mike) Obarski of West Salem, Colleen (Matt) Miller of Mystic, Conn., and Jennifer (Keith) Voss of Grovetown, Ga.; and great-grandchildren, Hunter and Spencer Miller, Nathan and Nicholas Obarski, and Paul and Audrey Voss.
He was preceded in death on Aug. 28, 2005, by his wife of 66 years, Mildred L. (nee Pursley), whom he married June 17, 1939.
Service: 11 a.m. Monday at Parker & Son Funeral Home, 210 Medina St., Lodi. Pastor David Marksbury will officiate.
Burial: Woodlawn Cemetery, Lodi.
Visiting hours: 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to the service Monday at the funeral home.
