Independence Day events

The following communities will have Independence Day festivities:

- Brunswick: The city’s rec center will host a Patriot Party from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 3, with a concert by the Brunswick Community Band from 9 to 9:30 p.m. and fireworks at the high school at dusk.

- Chippewa Lake: The community’s parade kicks off at 1 p.m. Friday, July 4, at Gloria Glens Town Hall, ending at Lions Park. The theme is “God Bless America.” Lake Road through the village will be closed from noon until the parade ends. The Chippewa Lake Water Ski Show begins at 5:30 at Chippewa Lake beach.

- Medina: The rec center’s Fireworks Festival will be held from 4 to 10 p.m. Thursday, July 3, followed by fireworks at the high school at dusk. On Friday, July 4, the YWCA’s Twin Sizzler begins at 6 a.m. with registration at Garfield Elementary School. A pancake breakfast will be held from 8 a.m. to noon at Medina United Methodist Church. The city’s Fourth of July parade begins at 6 p.m. at the intersection of Spring Grove and East Liberty streets. The Medina Community Band concert will be held at 8:30 p.m. at Public Square.

- Spencer: The parade will kick off at 10 a.m. Friday, July 4, at the police station and go to Firestone Park. The celebration will begin there at 11 with activities throughout the day and fireworks at dusk.

- Valley City: The annual Fourth of July parade will form at 10 a.m. at the Depot on Center Road, and start at 11, going to Mill Stream Park. Everyone is invited to join in by decorating a float, bicycle or animal, or simply attending. Trophies and prizes will be awarded for different categories. An antique and classic vehicle show begins at 5:30 p.m., and fireworks will be at the park at dusk.

- Wadsworth: The city’s fireworks display will be held Thursday, July 3, at Memorial Park at dusk. On Friday, July 4, the Wadsworth Community Band will celebrate with “Happy Birthday, America,” at 7 p.m. on the lawn at Central Intermediate School.
