Armand E. Motz

Armand E. Motz, 93, of Medina, passed away Thursday, June 12, 2008, at Medina General Hospital.

He was born July 16, 1914, in Cleveland to Walter and Ella Motz. The family later moved to a farm on Poe Road in Montville Township. In his early years, he worked at the Henry Furnace Foundry tin shop. Mr. Motz also was employed as a body and fender mechanic at Cal Wible Automotive of Medina, retiring in 1979. He was a longtime member of Poe United Methodist Church and American Legion Post 202 in Medina. When World War II was declared, Mr. Motz and his friends enlisted in the Marine Corps and served four years. He was honorably discharged with the rank of master sergeant.

Mr. Motz is survived by his wife of 62 years, Alice of Medina; daughter, Verlaine Favri of Medina; granddaughters, Shannon (Josh) Ayers of Bowling Green and Stefanie (Nate) Schafer of Creston; great-grandson, Gage Ayers of Bowling Green; sister, Doris (Walter) Koehler of Brunswick; niece, Sandra (Tom) Hofmann of Reynoldsburg; nephew, Gary (Cindy) Koehler of Perrysburg; and many great-nieces and -nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon Motz; parents, Walter and Ella Motz; and twin siblings, Rhea and Roy Motz.

Service: 1 p.m. Monday at Waite & Son Funeral Homes, Medina Chapel, 765 N. Court St. The Rev. Jim Patterson will officiate.

Internment: Poe Cemetery with military honors.

Visiting hours: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Poe United Methodist Church, 6712 Wadsworth Road, Medina, 44256.
