BRUNSWICK — Memorial Day weekend proved to be extremely memorable for three Brunswick Arsenal girls soccer teams.
The under-14 team and U-11 “B” squad won championships at the Junior Irish Invitational at Notre Dame University, while the U-11 “A” team finished second.
The U-14 girls won the Premier Division by defeating Orland Park, Ill., 2-0 in the championship behind goals from Leah Sandercock and Jessica Spear. The team ended the season ranked 10th in Ohio and 33rd in Region 2.
Other members were Kristi Eberwein, Megan Deis, Kristine Garcia, Emily Hotz, Talia Kordahi, Lauren Arona, Jessica Finkler, Becca Coleman, Sara Coleman, Meghan Byram, Jessica Marinucci, Caitlyn Skryzpek, Courtney Kenney, Taylor Smith, Darby McBride and Erica Allen.
The U-11 “B” girls defeated Findlay 2-1 in the final behind goals from Morgan Wilkinson and Casey Aguinaga and outstanding netminding by Erin Calhoun.
Other team members were Olivia Gailey, Paige, Salisbury, Amanda Jancewicz, Juli Anne Schrilla, Allison Evans, Geena Gamble, Lydia Schoer, Rebecka Smith and Marissa Fabrizzi.
The U-11 “A” girls finished second, losing 3-0 to North United, the sixth-ranked team in Pennsylvania, in the championship. The “A” team is ranked sixth in Ohio and 11th in Region 2.
Team members were Macey Jugilon, Sam Malleo, Gabby Maslowski, Nicki Shotzbarger, Salisbury, Brooke Kenney, Olivia Young, Maggie Mae Everitt, Libby Grace, Colleen Grace, Alex Smith and Kennedy Armour.
The Arsenal teams are coached by Brad Wojnarowsky.
